CHINA GALAXY PYROTECHNICS CHINA

Bay of Cannes July 22, 2026 - 10pm

Theme: Love Accross The Galaxy

Conceptor : Vander Resurreccion Tenedor

Based on the beloved Chinese myth The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, this pyrotechnic show explores the timeless theme of forbidden love. A humble mortal, Niulang, and Zhinu, a celestial weaver, fall deeply in love and build a life together on Earth. When their union is discovered, the heavens intervene—an enraged queen separates them by casting a vast river of stars, the Milky Way, between them. Determined to defy fate, the lovers endure unimaginable trials across the galaxy. Moved by their unwavering devotion, a flock of magpies forms a bridge once each year, allowing them to reunite—an event now celebrated across China as the Qixi Festival.

Through a powerful fusion of music and pyrotechnic artistry, the show brings each chapter of this legend to life. It opens with celebratory compositions inspired by Jackie Chan and Kung Fu Panda, symbolizing the joyous union of the lovers. Their magical life on Earth unfolds through the heartfelt score of the animation “Up” and through the song “Mojito” by renowned Chinese artist Jay Chou.

The tone shifts dramatically with their separation, captured through the intensity of Star Wars’ iconic “Duel of the Fates,” representing chaos and heartbreak. Epic, action-driven Chinese compositions follow, illustrating their struggle to overcome the vast divide of the galaxy. The magpies’ legendary bridge emerges in a vibrant display set to the song “Red Luan,” leading into an emotional reunion underscored by “Je T’Aime” by Lara Fabian.

The show concludes with a deeply moving finale, accompanied by the celestial soundscape of “Un Nouveau Soleil” by M83. In this final moment, the lovers’ perseverance is rewarded with a new beginning—symbolizing hope, renewal, and a story that continues to resonate as a cherished part of Chinese culture and tradition.
